Eddy County Commissioners have approved a 728-thousand dollar expenditure for a new trash compactor at the Sandpoint Landfill. Public Works Director Jason Burns says the new machine replaces the six year old one that had more than 10-thousand hours of use. Records show trash collection was higher in the first quarter of this year than it was during the same time period last year around Carlsbad and Artesia.
