The city of Carlsbad is congratulating Sonny Throckmorton for being one of this year;’s recipients of the Academy of Country Music’s exclusive “Poet’s Award.” Throckmorton and artis Shania Twain will be incucted into the exclusive group on August 24th in Nashville. The Poet’s Award is presented to a Country Music songwriter for outstanding and longstanding musical and/or lyrical contributions throughout their career, with special consideration given to a song or songs’ impact on the culture of Country Music.
