Starting this week, the New Mexico Department of Transportation will bein making modifications to the US 62/180 stretch near and along the Bataan Memorial Bridge in Carlsbad. The modifications are being made in anticipation of quickly restoring 2-way traffic to the southern portion of the bridge. The westbound lanes were already closed earlier this month after officials observed seterioration on the north side of the bridge. The south side of the bridge has remained open for eastbound traffic, while westbound is diverted to NM200.
