The secretary of state’s office is reporting that Republican David Finger has defeated Democrat challenger and incumbent Eileen Riordan for the 5th Judicial District Court Division 1 seat. Riordan was appointed to the position last year and had previously served 25 years as Carlsbad city attorney, while Finger, from Lovington, has been a Lea County magistrate judge since 2011.
