A new leader for Artesia schools. According to a statement from APS, Darian Jaramillo will be the next superintendent. Jaramillo will replace the current Superintendent, Thad Phipps, who recently announced his retirement effective as of August 31st. Jaramillo has a broad range of experience in education in New Mexico and Nevada that has spanned a period of thirty years. She has worked in the Alamogordo School District, Bernalillo School District, Los Lunas School District, and Artesia School District. During her thirty-year career, she taught kindergarten, third grade, fifth grade, and ninth and eleventh grade English.
