The United Way of Eddy County has selected its new executive director, Board of Directors Chairman Brandon Boyles announced thi week.
Kyle Marksteiner, who currently serves as the public information officer for the City of Carlsbad, will assume full responsibilities as executive director in late October. In the meantime, he will be working with Interim Executive Director Missi Currier to ensure a smooth transition.
“Marksteiner has an extensive background in communication, and we believe the United Way
of Eddy County has an excellent story to tell about the organization’s crucial role in supporting
nonprofits and serving the public,” Boyles said. “Marksteiner’s abilities and talents are a
tremendous addition to our team and will be a benefit to all of Eddy County.”
Marksteiner has a B.A. in communications and sociology from Trinity University and more than
25 years of professional experience in Eddy County, mostly in media and public affairs. He has
previously served on the United Way board and as campaign chair.
“I’ve witnessed the many benefits that the United Way brings to the residents of Eddy County,
as a board member and as a member of this community,” Marksteiner said. “I’m incredibly
excited about serving this organization in this new role.”
The United Way of Eddy County is a volunteer-driven organization that serves all Eddy County
residents through its own programs and services and those of its partner agencies. The
organization works to advance the common good by focusing on the building blocks for a good
life – education, financial stability, health, and basic needs.
Marksteiner said upcoming goals of the United Way include continuing to support partner
agencies, expanding 211 services, enhancing public outreach, and developing the organization’s
annual campaign and associated fundraiser efforts.
Ada Beth Majerus continues to serve as the United Way of Eddy County’s office manager. Lexie
Alvarez is the agency’s 211 coordinator and office assistant.
