Roswell Police Involved In Shooting Of DV Suspect

An officer involved shooting is under investigation in Roswell. RPD says police responded to a domestic violence call at a home on Oak Drive when a child called 911 indicating his father had a gun. Officers quickly encountered 30 year old Timothy Riley, who quickly got into a vehicle in the driveway. The man was given commands to show his hands, but then Riley opened fire at the officers through the back window of the vehicle. Riley then exited the vehicle, firing off more rounds. That’s when one officer fired and struck Riley, killing him.

During the ordeal, three schools, Sierra Middle Schoo,, Parkview Elementary, and El Capitan Elemnatray, were put on lockdown as a precaution. New Mexico State Poclie have been called in to investigate as an independent third party agency and the officer who fired the shots is placed on administrative leave per policy.
