Crash With Roswell Police Unit Leaves Man Dead

Tragedy in Roswell on Wednesday, when a polcie officer was involved in a deadly crash. It happened downtown when the RPD patrol car struck a car driven by 66 year old Howard Charles Peterson. The initial investigation shows the officer was going south on Main responding to a serious crash near Main and Poe Streets, with his emergency lights and siren activated. Peterson was headed north on Main when he slowed to make a left turn into a business parking lot between 6th and 7th Streets. He ultimately turned directly in front of the responding officer and the two cars collided. The unnamed officer is recovering.
