A list published this week by the federal government claims Eddy County is harboring illegal immigrants. The list was published by the US Department of Homeland Security, identifying hundreds of counties and cities across the nation as sanctuary jurisdictions.
Eddy County is on the list… as is Chaves, Otero and Lincoln Counties…. and the cities of Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Eddy County Sheriff Matt Hutchinson is publicly decrying the list, which was removed from the Department of Homeland Security website on Monday.
Hutchinson says the list is full of “inaccurate information.” He claims Eddy County is not a sanctuary for criminals and that he will always uphold his oath to defend the US COnstitution “without discrimination.”
