At Artesia city council this week, the council gave approval to the chamber of commerce to host an urban airstream rally in town. The event consists of groups of people who own Airstream travel trailers who will camp together, spending a few days in town and giving back to the vcommunity by making or donating items to the community. It will be the the state’s first-ever Airstream Rally and it takes place in November to coincide with the Balloons, Barbecue, Brews, and bands event.
The Artesia city council also gave approval for Viva Skydive to be at the airport this weekend for tandem skydiving. Original plans called for a different firm to do the event, but unexpected circumstances called for changes. The city says spots for skydiving are already booked up, but there will be plenty of space for spectators.
And the council gave approval to the finance dpeartment to hold a city auction on October 11th. Items up for bidding will be power tools, vehicles, exercise equipment, and more.
