United Way Of Eddy County Announces Grant Recipients

The United Way of Eddy County is providing Community Impact awards to 16 participating agencies across
Eddy County, Executive Director Kyle Marksteiner announced today.
“We have an extremely rigorous process, and we are honored to provide grants to these incredibly
worthwhile recipients,” Marksteiner said. “These nonprofits have all demonstrated their deep commitment
toward making Eddy County a better place to live and work.”
Thanks to the generosity of Eddy County residents, the United Way of Eddy County increased its total
allocation by ten percent this year. A committee consisting of community members from across Eddy County
reviewed all applications and made a recommendation, which then received final approval by the United
Way of Eddy County Board of Directors.
Participating agencies this year selected include the Community of Hope, Artesia Literacy Council, Eddy
County CASA, Grammys House, Lifehouse Inc., Permian Basin Counseling, Haven of Hope, Oasis Women’s
Services, the Southeast New Mexico Community Action Corporation (SNMCAC), Affirming Heart/Foundry
Home, the Boys and Girls Club of Carlsbad, the Carlsbad Battered Families Shelter, the Carlsbad Literacy
Program, Carlsbad MainStreet and Carlsbad Transitional Housing
Grants are for specific programs. For example, MainStreet’s funding will go toward the organization’s
farmer’s market effort. The United Way also supports the Abundant Harvest food program, though Oasis
Church, with Community Impact funding.
Additionally, the United Way of Eddy County has recently awarded emerging needs grants to four Eddy
County philanthropic efforts: the Artesia Arts Council, Jonah’s House, Abundant Harvest and New Mexico
Community Lawn. The United Way of Eddy County has also significantly enhanced its 211 hardship program
over the past year. In 2024, the organization added an electricity relief program that assisted 80 Eddy County
families with electricity bill relief.
“We sincerely appreciate the trust in which the community has given us,” Marksteiner said. “The United Way
is deeply committed toward serving the health and human service needs of the residents of Eddy County.”
