Prosecutors in the murder case of Otero County SHeriff’s Deputy Jacob Diz Austin are asking to have the case moved out of Alamagordo. The change, according to the DA’s office, was requested by 17 year old Elija Hadley’s family. Diaz Austin is accused of killing the teen in June of 2024, despite the fact that an internal affairs investigation within the department cleared him of any wrongdoing. The case is being handled by the Benalilli County DA in an effort to avoid any conflict of interest problems.
