8 Museums To Participate In Museum Day Roswell

The public is invited to explore eight Roswell museums for free on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
during the third annual Museum Day Roswell. For one day only, Roswell’s museums will open their doors with
free admission for everyone. Whether you’re into aviation, contemporary art, local history, toys, or something
in between, this is your chance to reconnect with the incredible cultural spaces that make our city shine.
Museum Day is about making art and culture accessible for all, and the staff and volunteers aim to make the
event, as well as visiting our museums any day, not only educational, but fun and inspiring for all ages.
The participating museums are the Anderson Museum of Contemporary Art, International UFO Museum and
Research Center, Historical Society for Southeast New Mexico, Miniatures and Curious Collections Museum,
New Mexico Military Institute’s McBride Museum, Roswell Museum, Walker Aviation Museum, and for the
first time, the Roswell Space Toy Museum, which opened earlier this year. The Roswell Museum is closed
because of the October 2024 flood, however, staff and volunteers are being hosted for this event at the
Anderson Museum of Contemporary Art as part of the Roswell Museum’s “Pop-Ups” during the museum’s
recovery. So, while there are eight museums to visit with, the number of locations is seven.
Each of the eight museums will be offering different activities, from tours, scavenger hunts and art-making to
a book fair at the Historical Society for Southeast New Mexico. There will be prize drawings at each site plus a
drawing for a grand prize valued at $800 for those who complete a “passport” activity by visiting with all eight
museums that day. Passports are available at all the venues except the International UFO Museum and
Research Center, which requires participants to bring their passport for free admission. Passports are also
available at the Roswell Visitors Center.
More information about Museum Day Roswell, including the activities and offerings at each of the
participating museums, and their locations, can be found under the “Events” tab at roswellmuseum.org.
