The New Mexico House District 66 contest saw Artesia Republican Jimmy Mason defeat Libertarian candidate Andrew Kennedy by an 81 to 19 percent margin. That seat had been vacated by Independent Phelps Anderson, of Roswell, who was thrust out of the district due to boundary changes. The district now covers the area east of Roswell to Lovington, on to parts of Artesia and areas in and around Carlsbad.
