A lieutenant with the Chaves County Sheriff’s is in hot water. A statement posted on the sheriff’s office Facebook page says Lieutenant Joel Ramirez was pulled over on US 285 near Ojibwa early Sunday morning. Witnesses began calling dispatchers to report a car going the wrong way headed out of Artesia southbound. To show complete transparency, Sheriff Mike Herrington has requested that Roswell Police take over the investigation. Ramirez was arrested for DUI after he refused all tests.
