The New Mexico Department of Transportation (DOT) announced it will be offering in-person car seat inspections from nationally-certified child passenger safety technicians in Eddy County this week.
The inspections will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Artesia Fire Department and 3 to 5 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Carlsbad Police Department.
Correct use of child safety seats has been shown to decrease risk of death by an estimated 71% for infants and 54% for children, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
