Multi-Agency Warrant Roundup Yields 92 Arrests

A multi-agency warrant roundup headed by the Chaves County Metro Narcotics Task Force (CCMNTF) and U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) led to 92 arrests during the four-day operation last month.

The roundup took place Aug. 15-18 in Roswell and Chaves County. In addition to the 92 wanted
subjects who were arrested – most of whom were charged with narcotics-related crimes –
agents and officers seized 2,083 fentanyl pills, 114.2 grams of methamphetamine, 12 firearms,
and obtained and executed 14 search warrants. The New Mexico State Police, Chaves County
Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Enforcement and Removal Operations (part of U.S.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement), Texas Army National Guard, Fifth Judicial District
Attorney’s Office and the Chaves County Magistrate Court participated in this collaborative
effort and played vital roles in its success. The Criminal Investigations Division, K9 Division and
Patrol Division of the Roswell Police Department were also instrumental in its success.
Prior to the operation, agents with the CCMNTF obtained 41 felony narcotics-related arrest
warrants, as well as two separate felony arrest warrants for criminal sexual penetration and
criminal sexual contact. The CCMNTF currently consists of an intelligence analyst from the New
Mexico Army National Guard, and eight members of the Roswell Police Department: a
lieutenant, a sergeant, five agents and an administrative assistant.
