A man has been formally charged with a December 20th fatal shooting in Roswell. A statement from police says Oscar Antonio Vargas is charged with second degree murder and a gun crime for the death of Larry Turner. Vargas was arrested in El Paso, Texas, for a probation violation connected to a previous conviction in a human trafficking and smuggling case. Roswell Police say Turner and Vargas had been involved in a verbal fight right before the shooting near East Eyman Street and H Street in Roswell last month.
