Man Arrested After Deadly Roswell Drive-By Shooting

An arrest in a Roswell drive-by shooting case that left one person dead. The shooting happened Sunday afternoon in the 40 block of East Byrne Street when police say 20 year old Martin Soltero III drive a pickup truck and fired multiple rounds into a car parked on the street. The victim, 53 year old Freddie Allen, was sitting in the driver’s seat of the car and was killed. Polcie say Allen and a friend had arrived at the home and the friend had exited the car and was walking up to the house. A few hours later, the pickup truck was located and pulled over near South Richardson Avenue and West Albuquerque Street. Soltero was the lone occupant and was detained at that time. After questioning, Soltero was arrested Monday morning and is being held at the Chaves County Jail. No motive for the crime has been discussed by police at this time.
