Roswell Animal Services Changes Policy Regarding Spay; Neuter

– Roswell Animal Services has implemented a new policy that allows unaltered pets to go home with adopters with a sterilization agreement. Allowing pets to go home with community members before being spayed or neutered helps the city’s Animal Services, currently being managed by Best Friends Animal Society, to save more homeless pets in Roswell. This new policy helps reduce the amount of time a pet spends in the animal shelter, and that reduces stress due to confinement while also decreasing behavior issues and the risk of contagious diseases. In addition, allowing pets to leave the shelter sooner opens critical kennel space, helping reduce the need for euthanasia.
