Chaves County Firefighters Battle Barn Fire

Chaves County firefighters were busy Thursday fighting a barn fire. Sheriff Mike Harrington said on Facebook that the fire broke out near Oasis and Golden Plains Road. here were multiple explosions from inside the building because of oxygen and acetylene tanks being stored inside, but no injuries at this time.

Carlsbad Schools Report 344 COVID-19 Cases Since 1/3

Calrsbad Municipal Schools reported Wednesday that 344 students and staff have tested positive for COVID-19 since classes resumed on January 3rd. Superintendent Dr. Gerry Washburn said that the cases are split between 273 students and 71 staff members. Indoor sporting events continue to be reduced to 20 percent capacity.
